Abstract

1521816 Underground storage chambers NESTE OY 9 June 1976 [9 June 1975] 23915/76 Heading E1T An underground storage chamber for liquids lighter than water e.g. oil comprises a constant level water bed- 2 and an oil discharge region 8a located over a bottom part 9 of the chamber which is raised above the level 8 of the water bed 2. The raised level 9 may be formed by excavation, by casting concrete or by pro- viding a raised slab on supporting columns. Walls may be provided from the chamber floor or raised level for diverting flow from the discharge region. Stored oil may be heated during recirculation or may be heated indirectly by heating recirculated water. Formation of emulsions is avoided.
