Abstract

1522542 Indicating apparatus VDO ADOLF SCHINDLING AG 4 Feb 1976 [7 Feb 1975] 04450/76 Heading G1J In an indicating instrument including a dial 4, a pointer 6 movable over the dial, and a light source to illuminate the dial, the viewed face of the dial has a black non-reflective coating 7 consisting of a curable emulsion formed of a plastics lacquer and a plurality of extremely small particles, preferably spheres the diameter of which is in the micron range. The lacquer and particles are both dyed black. Indicia, in white or some other colour, are screen-printed on to the cured coating. Light from a source (not shown) behind the dial 4 passes via a light guide 9 to illuminate the viewed face of the dial. Preferably the exit face 8 of the light guide carries a filter 10 consisting of a polycarbonate foil dyed blue and matte on both sides.
