Abstract
1529202 Cyanine and merocyanine dyes CIBAGEIGY AG 20 Feb 1976 [18 March 1975] 38692/77 Divided out of 1529201 Heading C4P Spectrally sensitizing dinuclear cyanine dyes (as defined) and merocyanine dyes have attached to a heterocyclic nucleus or methine chain of the dye a pyridine, diazine or triazine group which comprises at least one leaving group and which is reactive with a hydrophilic colloid which contains an SH, NH 2 , = NH, OH or -CONL 1 L 1 group (in which L 1 and L 2 are each H, 1-5C alkyl or carboxy). The Examples relate to a bis-merocyanine dye in which the two moieties are joined by a 4- chloro-triazin-2, 5-ylene group and to mono- and tri-methine cyanine dyes which are substituted on the heterocyclic N atom or in the meso position by a (4,6-dichloro)- or a (4-chloro-6-hydroxy)- triazin-2-yl group which is bonded either directly or via an -S-, -NH(CH 2 ) 3 - or linkage. The use of the dyes is described in Specification 1,529,201.
