Abstract

9046. Hassart, E. F., and British Luxfer Prism Syndicate. April 25. Pavement lights.-Lights for pavements &c. are constructed of concrete with embedded metallic frames for receiving the lenses, the frames being provided with hooked projections or lugs for reinforcing the concrete and holding the frames together. One form of frame, Fig. 4, has sides h, i, inclined at 'different angles and coated with a reflecting surface r, top and bottom lenses k, l, and projections x, y, which may be connected to projections on adjacent frames by wires, or hooked over rods embedded in the concrete. Another form of frame is shown in Fig. 7, having a prismatic tile t, the lower part of which projects beneath the pavement and is provided with an oblique reflecting surface s and lens-like projection u which throws out the light underneath the pavement.
