Fibres, crimping and curling.-The hair &c. 1 is fed through a hollow rotating axle 3 carrying a head 6 on which is arranged a number of pins 7, 8, around which the material, slightly twisted, is led, and a guiding-device 9 over which the material is led to a reel 15 where it is wound up in a tightly-twisted and coiled-up condition. The device 9 is so placed in relation to the last pin 8 that the directions of the material before and after passing around the edge 10 are at an angle of 90 degrees. The pins 7, 8 may be provided with rollers, sleeves, &c., and the device 9 may consist of a block, a bent plate, a piece of tubing, a ring, &c., the edge 10 thereof being about level with the axis of the apparatus and, if desired, at a small angle thereto. The material may be formed into a smooth twisted cord in a separate apparatus and wound on a reel, from whence it is led to another apparatus provided with a stationary guiding-device.
