Abstract

21,558. Tuttle, R. V., and Tuttle, J. W. Oct. 26. Envelopes.-Envelopes are secured by means of a gummed tongue 6 on the closing-flap 4, and a gummed tab 14 attached to the front 1 by a small flap a and carrying a paper-fastener 15. The side flaps 2 and bottom flap 3 are provided with coinciding cut-out portions 13 to receive the tab 14. The envelope is secured by passing the tongue 6 successively through coinciding slots 12, 16 in the side and bottom flaps, upwards over the tab 14, through a slot 9 in the closing- flap, over the top of the envelope, across the front 1, and finally up the back, where it is secured by the paper-fastener 15. When used for halfpenny post, the gum on the tongue 6 and tab 14 is not moistened.
