Abstract

Bordeaux to blue and black azo dyes are produced, in substance or upon the fibre, by coupling tetrazotized diaminoazo compounds with 4-oxynaphthalene-1-arylketones; the dyes are also applicable as lakes. According to examples (1) tetrazotized 4 : 41-diaminoazobenzene is coupled with 4-oxynaphthalene-1-phenylketone; (2) cotton is impregnated with 4-oxynaphthalene-1-phenylketone and dyed reddish-blue by treatment with tetrazotized 4 : 41-di-amino-31-methoxy-61-methyl-azobenzene; (3) cotton impregnated as in (2) is printed with the tetrazo compound of reduced m-nitrobenzeneazo-1-naphthylamine to obtain deep violet effects. A table is given showing the shades of the dyestuffs from 4-oxynaphthalene-1-phenylketone, 4-oxynaphthalene-1-(21-chlorphenyl)-ketone and 4 : 41-dioxy-1 : 11-dinaphthylketone on the one hand and on the other the tetrazo compounds of the reduced or saponified azo compounds from the following pairs of components:-p-nitraniline and a -naphthylamine, or o-anisidine, p-nitro-o-chloraniline, p-nitro-o-anisidine, m-nitraniline, or p-aminoacetanilide and p-cresidine, p-nitro-o-anisidine and aniline.ALSO:Bordeaux to blue and black azo dyes are produced upon the fibre by coupling tetrazotized diaminoazo compounds with 4-oxynaphthalene-1-arylketones. According to examples (1) tetrazotized 4 : 41-diaminoazobenzene is coupled with 4-oxy-naphthalene-1-phenylketone; (2) cotton is impregnated with 4-oxynaphthalene 1-phenylketone and dyed reddish-blue by treatment with tetrazotized 4 : 41-diamino-31-methoxy-61-methylazobenzene; (3) cotton impregnated as in (2) is printed with the tetrazo compound of reduced m nitrobenzeneazo-1-naphthylamine to obtain deep violet effects. A table is given showing the shades of the dyestuffs from 4-oxynaphthalene-1-phenylketone, 4-oxynaphthalene-1-(21-chlorphenyl)-ketone, and 4 : 41-dioxy-1 : 11-dinaphthylketone on the one hand and on the other the tetrazo compounds of the reduced or saponified azo compounds from the following pairs of components:-p-nitraniline and a -naphthylamine or o-anisidine, p-nitro-o-chloraniline, p-nitro-o-anisidine, m-nitraniline, or p-aminoacetanilide and p-cresidine, p-nitro-o-anisidine and aniline.
