Abstract
A nail free horseshoe comprises a base section 11 and an upper section 7. The base section is made from a strong dense rubber material which, in use, gives a high level of shock absorption and a good grip. The upper section is made from a strong elastic rubber material which allows for the wall of the boot to be stretched over the foot of the horse gripping wound the wall and the heel of the hoof. The interior wall of the shoe has a ribbed pattern 8 to help prevent movement of the shoe in relation to the hoof. The shoe is fastened to the hoof without the need for nails or adhesive and may be fitted by anyone, thus negating the need to employ a farrier.
Description
SELF SECURING HORSESHOE
The invention is a horseshoe that holds itself to the hoof with no other materials needed.
The invention ehminates the need for conversional nailing or glueing and the need of a tarrier to fit the shoe.
An objective of this inversion is to provide much better gnp and shock absorption on the road over conversional steel or even hard plastic shoes.
This inversion uses the shoes material to extend over the bulb of the heal and around the hoof wall. Thereby securing the shoe to the hoof.
The uper section ofthe shoe is to be made from a strong elastic rubber material. This allows the shoe to adapt to small variations hi hoof shape and size.
The base section is made from a strong dense nabber material. This allows a high shock absorption and level of grip on road surfaces.
Figure I. Shows side view of shoe.
Figure 2. Shows base design.
Figure 3. Shows a cross section of shoe.
Figure I shows the elastic material of the shoe covering the bulb of the heel I () also showing the rounded and thicker rim 6 the whole of the upper section 7 is elastic to adapt to variations in hoof shape and size. The base of the shoe mimicks the base of the hoof. The frog 11 and rim 12 are the areas of prime contact with the ground and being a firm rubber, are the prime shock absorbing areas.
The inside of the shoe mimicks the exterior of the hoof 9 as shown in figure 3.
Thereby the frog of the horses hoof is allowed to work and cushion the impact and shock wave as the hoof hits the ground the interior wall of the shoe has a ribbed pattern 8 to help prevent movement between hoof and shoe.
Claims (3)
- I. The shoe mimics the horses hoof and since the shoe is flexible this allows the horses hoofto flex and work as natures design intended.
- 2. There is a shock absorption element to the flexible shoe therefore reducing stress to the horses leg.
- 3. The shoe may be fitted by anyone without the need for a barrier since the shoe walls are elasticated and no nailing is required.
