Abstract
A satellite dish position adjuster comprises a unit which attaches to a tripod or pole and on to which a satellite dish can be attached. The unit includes means to manually adjust the azimuth and elevation position of the dish. The azimuth position of the dish may be adjusted using a rotary table 1 mounted on a base 11 clamped to a pole or tripod. The elevation position of the dish may be adjusted by a hinged elevating table 2 mounted on the rotary table 1. The elevation table 2 may include a post 3 on to which the satellite dish is secured. Each position adjuster may include a large adjuster knob 4, 5 and position clamp means 9, 6. A connector bush 10 and clamp lever 7 may be used to secure the base 11 of the unit to the pole or tripod. The position adjuster provides a simple and cheap manual means to adjust a satellite dish position to find a satellite signal.
Description
SATELLITE DISH POSITION ADJUSTER
S.D.P.A (MANUAL) When we Campers arrive on site one of the chores is to set up Satellite Dish so the Wife can watch the Soaps Most Dishes are fixed to Tripods or other poles by clamps which are very hard to adjust, so what is commonly done is to lift the whole Tripod and Dish and try to twist and pull to find a Signal this can take a long time that's if you find a Signal. After finding Signal the Tripod needs to be fixed down this is where the trouble starts trying to peg down the Tripod without moving it.
With the S.D.P.A. the Tripod or Pole is fixed securely before Adjustment takes place, also after each Adjustment Tables are locked tight.
This invention is to help Caravan and Motor home owners set up their Satellite Dish to receive a signal when changing sites.
When moving site there is a need for a Mechanical Aid to help adjust the Satellite Dish.
There are various Hi-Tec Electronic Self Seeking Satellite Dishes on the Market which cost a lot of money. So I have set out to make a Manually Adjustable Unit that most Campers can afford.
The S.D.P.A. is designed to help find the Satellite Signal with the help of the following.
1, ANGLE F1NDER:-which is built onto S.D.P.A this to assure the correct elevation is achieved.
2, COMPASS: - comes with S.D.P.A. helps position the S.D.P.A. towards the Satellite in the Sky.
3, SIGNAL METER: - (OPTIONAL EXTRA) Gives an Audible Signal and a Visual reading when Dish is pointing at Satellite.
The S.D.P.A is designed to fit a Standard Tripod of 40mm diameter although bushes are supplied to order to suit all sizes of Poles.
The Invention works as follows.
The Main Unit consists of Rotating Table which is fixed to Tripod. This Table can be roughly positioned by unclamping Tripod Clamp and twisting whole unit to rough Compass Position and then locked. The Table itself can then be Fine Adjusted by a large Adjuster Knob until a Signal is received as indicated by a Signal Meter; The Table is then clamped to sop any movement.
Fixed onto the Rotating Table is an Elevetating Table which can also be Fine Adjusted by large Adjuster Knob so depending where in Europe you are the exact Elevation can be achieved with the help of Angle Meter and Signal Meter.
Description
In figure 1/1 The Rotary Table 1 is pivoted onto base 11 and can be locked from moving by two clamping knobs 9 fine adjustment of this table is made by large fine adjuster knob 5 via Table adjuster arms 13.
The Base 11 is fixed to Tripod by connector 8 which in turn is clamped to Tripod by connector clamp 10 and connector clamp lever 7.
On the Rotary Table is the Elevating Table 2 which is connected to Rotary Table 1 by four hinge blocks 12 and hinge pin 15. Fine Adjustment of this table is made by large adjuster knob 4 and riser block 16, clamping the movement of this table is via the clamping strap 14 which is fixed by pivot screw 17 to Rotary Table, then clamped by clamping lever 16.
On the Elevating Table 2 is fixed post 3 on which the Satellite Dish is clamped to. *
