Abstract
580,209. Paper containing synthetic resin. ANDERSON, H. E. June 16, 1944, No. 11553. [Class 96] Paper is made to have high wet strength by impregnation, in the paper-making machine, or after manufacture and re-introducing it into the machine beyond the second wet press, with a solution of resin-forming constituents, e.g., of urea- or phenolformaldehyde, e.g., as in Specification 553,122 and drying; it is then heated and the resin cured as by passing the web P about pipes 11, 12 at 120 to 130‹C. and into a chamber 10 heated to 130‹C. by electric resistance mats, or the web may be wound between an inner and outer electrode and interleaved at intervals with metallic foil for heating diathermically.
