Abstract
629,625. Moulding insulating spacers on electric conductors. LIGNES TELEGRAPHIQUES ET TELEPHONIQUES. Feb. 5, 1947, Nos. 3461 and 3462. Convention dates, Oct. 21, 1946 and Dec. 20, 1946. [Class 87 (ii)] Insulating spacers 3 are formed on a conductor 4 by a number of travelling moulds, each consisting of two half-moulds 13. Each half-mould is carried by a link 11 of two endless chains 1, and the conductor 4, moving at the same speed as the moulds, is located at the centre thereof when a passage 14 opening into the moulds registers with the nozzle 8 of an extrusion apparatus 5. The parts of the mould separate when the insulating material has hardened on the conductor. The half moulds 13 are brought together as they pass the nozzle 8 by means of a tightening device 10 which acts on the links through plates 15 either directly or through rollers 17.
