Abstract

623,906. Ladders. CONCRETE UTILITIES, Ltd., and MARQUES, C. A. May 27, 1947, No. 14031. [Classes 20(i) and 20(ii)] A safety device for supporting a ladder from a structure comprises an intermediate member to which the ladder is pivotally connected and which is attached to the structure by the interengagement of a projection with a vertical slot. A structure 11, Figs. 1, 2, such as a lamp post, has a cast iron insert 12 provided with a vertical cavity 12a and having a vertical key-holeshaped slot 12b, 12c, Fig. 4, in its front face. An intermediate lamp-post engaging member 1, Figs. 1, 2, is pivotally connected to a ladder 13 by a hinge pin 17 which passes through the lugs 15b, 16a of a plate 15 and through the member 16 respectively, the ladder being secured to the plate 15 by threaded U-bolts 14. The member 16 has a projection 16b which is located behind the reduced portion of the key-hole slot in the insert 12 when the member 16 and structure are interengaged.
