Abstract

The plant for carrying out the process according to Specification 634,526, wherein the extraction of fatty oils from vegetable material is facilitated by treating the material by supersonic vibrations, an apparatus for such treatment being included in the plant, is modified in that the apparatus comprises one or more tubes of small cross-section provided with steel bars subjected to a magnetic field. The plant is similar to that of the parent Specification but the quartz windows of the supersonic apparatus therein are replaced by the steel bars aforesaid, the flat or slightly concave ends of which rest against the wall of the tube. The steel bars are subjected to a magnetic field, the mean frequency of which is of the order of 20,000 cycles per second. The axes of the steel bars which are consecutive or are located opposite to one another are slightly inclined with respect to one another so that the number of microvortices and variations of local pressure is increased. The remaining details of the process and the plant are as described in the parent Specification.
