Abstract
690,278. Photographic-viewfinders. ETABLISSEMENTS EMEL. June 29, 1949, No. 17233/49. Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i). A viewfinder adjustable for use with objectives of different focal lengths comprises an objective 1 forming a real inverted image of the object, an objective 2 forming a real image of this image in the plane of a diaphragm 4 viewed through an eyepiece 3, the objective 2 being movable to vary the magnification of this image, and the eyepiece 3 and diaphragm 4 being simultaneously moved to maintain the latter in the plane of the second image, whereby the image seen is masked by a frame of fixed dimensions, the extent of the image seen in the frame being varied in accordance with the camera lens in use. A collective lens 8 may be placed at the image formed by the objective 1. As shown in Fig. 3, the lenses 1 and 8 are fixed in a tubular body 9 in which slide a tube 10 carrying the objective 2 and a tube 11 carrying the eyepiece 3 and diaphragm 4. The tubes have pin 101, 11<SP>1</SP> respectively, engaging a longitudinal slot 12 in the tube 9 and helical grooves 13, 14, respectively, in a sleeve 15 rotatable on the tube 9 but prevented from moving longitudinally thereof by engagement of a pin 16 on the sleeve with a groove 17 on the tube.
