Abstract

714.099. Inflating valves. KIDDE CO., Ltd., W. Jan. 30, 1953 [Feb. 1, 1952], No. 2796/52 Class 135 An inflating valve for life-jackets &c. comprises an outer casing 5 secured to the article to be inflated and a mouthpiece member 1 urged outwardly by a spring 9 to press a washer 8 against a seat 7. Inward displacement of the mouthpiece allows air to pass through holes 2 into the 'article to be inflated. The member 1 is guided in its longitudinal movement by a pair of projections 12 engaging slots 14 in the casing and is locked in the valve-closed position by partial rotation which causes the end of a projection 12 to pass along an inclined cam surface 15. Both the casing and the mouthpiece are of moulded nylon.
