Abstract

714,265. Foldable cartons. WADDINGTON Ltd., J., and HORRY, W. T. Oct. 3, 1952 [Sept. 11, 1951], No. 21348/51. Class 18 A carton blank to form a box with inwardlysloping sides and ends 2, 3 is creased or scored to produce a rectangular centre forming the bottom 1. sides 2 and ends 3 which when folded upwards are shorter along their top edges than where they join the bottom 1, corner pieces 6 diagonally creased or scored to fold into the carton and lie against either the ends or the sides, and locking flaps 8 extending from the ends or sides arranged to fold into the carton and lie against the inturned corner pieces. The corner pieces are creased to hinge along lines 7 and along the lines where they join the sides 2 and ends 3 so as to fold inwardly. The locking flaps 8 are of the same shape as the ends 3 and have at their ends foldable strips 9 to engage the bottom and sides of the carton. The extremities of the corner pieces are cut away at 11 so that they will not overlap when folded, and the sides 2 have narrow extensions 12 ornamentally shaped to project over the top of the carton. In a modifioation the corner pieces have interlocking extensions which are fastened together after folding, and the blank includes lidforming members.
