Abstract
853,511. Nuclear fuel elements. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Feb. 17, 1950 [Feb. 22, 1949], No. 4872/49. Class 39(4). A nuclear fuel element comprises a uranium rod 3 in an A1 sheath 4 having twelve helical fins 5 (only four are shown). The pitch of the helix is large compared with its diameter, and the diameter is small compared with the crosssection of the channel in which the element rests. The coolant is air.
