Abstract

913,244. Headsets. AIRMED Ltd. July 28, 1960 [July 28, 1959], No. 25874/59. Class 40(4). The pivoted boom of a headset is made of a wire which may be bent by the user to adjust the position of the microphone. The boom is pivoted on the ear-piece 4 so as to be movable from the speaking position to a parked position above the head. The boom is made of a steel wire bent to form an eye 6, which engages a pivot pin 9 on the earpiece, and two parallel curved portions 5 which together with a screened cable 16 are covered by a plastics sheath 17. Bent-over ends 7 of the wire are used to key into the microphone casing 8. The eye 6 has a flat head co-operating with a flat on the pivot pin so that the pin rotates with the boom and obtains friction from a nylon washer put under pressure by a spring washer. The distance of the microphone from the mouth and its lateral position are varied by bending the boom.
