Description

Electric nail polishing apparatus and detachably connected head
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an electric nail polish apparatus and a detachably connected head, and more particularly, to an electric nail polish apparatus including a motor-driven electric nail polish device provided with a plurality of replaceable heads bringing at least one of an effect of filing or abrading a nail surface, an effect of polishing a nail surface, or an effect of polishing a nail surface.
Background
An electric motorised nail polish with an interchangeable head which, in use, brings about different effects. In operation, a user will typically use the polishing apparatus as part of a three-stage process, first, the user will attach a filing head. The user will then activate the device and the motor will cause the rasping head to oscillate linear motion and the user will apply the rasping surface of the head to the finger or toe nail to file the nail as desired. The user will then disable the head and replace the rasping head with a separate polishing head. Similarly, the user will then activate the device to cause the oscillating linear motion of the polishing head, and this will be applied to the finger or toe nail as required. The user would then disable the buffing head and replace the buffing head with a separate buffing head. Finally, the user will then activate the device to cause the polishing head to oscillate linear motion and will apply this to the finger or toe nails as required, and then deactivate the device. These known devices provide high frequency oscillating linear motion for effective use of the user's nails for filing/polishing, a potential drawback being that the user may accidentally subject their fingers to inaccurate filing/polishing if the user incorrectly performs a head changing operation due to the need to perform head changing operations multiple times. The present invention seeks to address this and other deficiencies.
Disclosure of Invention
According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided an electric nail polish apparatus including an electric nail polish device and a plurality of detachably connected heads, wherein the electric nail polish device includes: a body housing containing a power source electrically connected to a motor, the motor having a rotating shaft connected to a transmission mechanism, the transmission mechanism connected to a proximal end of a drive shaft, the transmission mechanism configured to convert rotational motion of the rotating shaft into an oscillating longitudinal movement of the drive shaft, a distal end of the drive shaft extending beyond a tip of the body housing, the tip of the body housing configured to extend away from the body housing by at least 2mm, thereby providing a front surface with a flat side on or adjacent to a diametrical line of the body housing, an end of the flat side connected to a curved side having one or more radii; and wherein the detachably connected head comprises: a lap plate provided with a nail contact material at one side thereof and a head housing at the other side thereof, the head housing being inside the outer periphery of the lap plate, the head housing being closed at a top end and open at a bottom end and being provided with a cavity receiving therein the distal end of the drive shaft and the tip end of the main body housing, and wherein the cavity corresponds to the shape of the tip end, a socket being provided in the cavity, the socket being configured to be detachably connected to the drive shaft, wherein a lap plane is provided at the bottom end of the lap plate such that the cavity end of the head housing is spaced at least 2mm inside from the bottom end of the lap plate.
The present invention provides numerous advantages over prior art devices, the primary advantage being that it ensures that the removably attachable head can only be attached to the drive shaft of an electric nail polish apparatus in a single orientation. Single orientation is facilitated because the lap plane of the lap plate extends at least 2mm from the head housing at the bottom of the lap plate. In order to properly orient and attach the removably attachable head to the motorized nail polish apparatus, the user would push the head so that the cavity encases the distal end of the drive shaft to enclose the tip of the body housing of the motorized nail polish apparatus so that the lapping plane is adjacent to the flat side of the tip, which in turn would allow the cavity of the head housing to accommodate the tip in accordance with the corresponding shape of the tip. In contrast, if the user does not properly orient the removably attached head toward the tip of the electric nail polish apparatus prior to attachment, the lapping plane will abut a portion of the tip of the electric nail polish apparatus and interfere with the attachment therebetween.
Another advantage provided by the lapping plane is that it provides a larger lapping plate surface area, thereby increasing the surface area of the nail contact material, which may allow for improved nail polish results for the user.
The lapping plane provides a further advantage of allowing a greater proportion of the tip to be encompassed by the head, thereby providing improved stability during use when a user is applying a vertical force to the connection between the detachably connected head and the polishing apparatus during the act of polishing the fingernail or toenail.
Preferably, the lapping plane extends beyond the cavity end of the head housing by 2mm to 10mm, more preferably by 2mm to 7mm, even more preferably by 3mm to 6mm, most preferably by 5 mm.
The head housing of the detachably coupled head is provided with a cavity receiving therein the distal end of the driving shaft and the tip end of the body housing and corresponding to the shape of the tip, wherein a gap between the inside of the cavity and the tip of the electric nail polish apparatus is between 1mm and 5mm, preferably between 1mm and 3mm, and most preferably between 1mm and 2 mm.
Preferably, the bridge plate is bent at the top end thereof to facilitate nail polishing more precisely.
Preferably, the nail contact material completely fills the surface area of the bridge. The nail contact material may be a material adapted to bring about one of the following effects: filing, grinding or polishing.
The drive shaft protruding from the tip of the body housing may be provided with a collar configured to detachably connect with the socket of the head housing, the detachable connection providing an audible click which may provide confirmation to a user that a correct connection has been made. Alternatively, the drive shaft may be provided with a recess or the like resulting from removal of material from the drive shaft, the socket of the head housing being configured to removably connect with the recess, the removable connection providing an audible click which may provide confirmation to the user that a correct connection has been made.
Preferably, the tip of the body housing of the electric nail polish apparatus extends from the body housing by at least 2mm to 10mm, more preferably by 2mm to 7mm, even more preferably by 3mm to 6mm, most preferably by 6 mm.
An intermediate housing may be provided between the tip and the body housing, in which case the tip extends away from the intermediate housing rather than the body housing. The intermediate housing may be provided with a tapered surface and may be provided with a cover engagement means.
A cover may be provided having a cavity with a volume sufficient to receive a removably attachable head connected to a drive shaft of the electric nail polish apparatus within the cavity of the cover, and the cover may be sized to engage the cover engaging means of the intermediate housing to removably secure the cover to the electric nail polish apparatus.
A slide switch may be provided for allowing a user to select an operation parameter of the electric nail polish apparatus. The slide switch may have two positions defining "on" and "off". Preferably, the slide switch is arranged to have more than two positions, a first position defining "off" and other positions being "on" at different speeds to allow the user to define a preferred frequency of movement for the particular action they want to apply to their nail (such as filing, polishing or buffing).
Preferably, the sliding switch in the "off" position is located entirely within the boundary defined by the perimeter of the body housing, with at least a portion of the switch being located above the tip of the intermediate housing and/or the body housing when the switch is in one or more "on" positions. In this preferred arrangement, the cover may be configured to cause the switch to move from the "on" position to the "off" position during operation of connecting the cover to the intermediate housing, thereby improving the safety of the device and ensuring that the device saves power consumption.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a detachably connected head for detachable connection to an electric nail polish apparatus, wherein the electric nail polish apparatus includes: a body housing containing a power source point-connected to a motor, the motor having a rotational shaft connected to a transmission mechanism, the transmission mechanism connected to a proximal end of a drive shaft, the transmission mechanism configured to convert rotational motion of the rotational shaft into oscillatory longitudinal movement of the drive shaft, a distal end of the drive shaft extending beyond a tip of the body housing, the tip of the body housing configured to extend away from the body housing by at least 2mm, thereby providing a front surface with a flat side that is on or adjacent to a diametrical line of the body housing, an end of the flat side connected to a curved side having one or more radii; and wherein the detachably connected head comprises: a lap plate provided with a nail contact material at one side thereof and a head housing at the other side thereof, the head housing being inside the outer periphery of the lap plate, the head housing being closed at the top end and open at the bottom end and being provided with a cavity receiving therein the distal end of the drive shaft and the tip end of the main body housing, and wherein the cavity corresponds to the shape of the tip end, a socket being provided in the cavity, the socket being configured for detachable connection to the drive shaft, wherein a lap plane is provided at the bottom end of the lap plate, such that the cavity end of the head housing is spaced at least 2mm inside from the bottom end of the lap plate.
