図6について説明する。図6は爪変形防止具Cの別の様態である爪変形防止具Eを示した図である。図6(a)は斜視図、図6(b)は使用例を示す図である。
爪変形防止具Eは、弾性能を有するステンレス鋼で製作され、厚さ0.5mm、幅3mm、長さ18mmとした。爪形保護部7の長手方向左右略両側端部で且つ長手側面には、爪先端部14側から爪甲部12へ向かって挟着できるよう夫々左右の爪掛け係止部8が爪形保護部7と一体成形でプレス加工されている。

このように平状の爪へ爪形保護体1aを架設することにより、つま先の狭い形状の靴や、運動時のつま先加重等により、爪縁部を撓曲させる外圧が掛かることで発症する爪変形に伴う爪縁部11の変形や割裂および爪郭周囲の疾患を未然に防げる。また変形爪の再発防止にも役立つ。
