Abstract

A product sales data processing device and program are provided that can quickly and reliably identify whether or not a product has been paid for as subject to a reduced tax rate on a sales receipt.
A product registration processing unit registers product information and purchase type of a product purchased by a customer, and a payment processing unit performs payment based on the contents registered by the product registration processing unit. A print data generation unit (information output unit) outputs print data in which information indicating the purchase type of the product is arranged on the same line as the information related to the paid product.

Description

The embodiment of the present invention relates to a product sales data processing device and a program.

With the implementation of the reduced tax rate system from October 2019, it has become necessary to mark items subject to the reduced tax rate on sales receipts. Also, if there is an eat-in space in the store and items subject to the reduced tax rate are eaten inside the store, the standard tax rate will be applied, so there is no need to mark the items subject to the reduced tax rate on the sales receipt.

When a paid-for item is returned, the store clerk registers the return while comparing the returned item with the sales receipt. When an eat-in item is returned, there is no mark on the sales receipt indicating that it is an item subject to the reduced tax rate, so there is a risk that the item may be mistakenly determined to be subject to the reduced tax rate and the amount of the returned item reduced by the difference in the amount of consumption tax. For this reason, a method has been proposed in which the clerk identifies whether the item was sold as eat-in or take-out and prints this on the sales receipt (for example, Patent Document 1).

However, with the printing format of the sales receipt described in Patent Document 1, it was difficult for store clerks to quickly and reliably recognize the sales format of the returned product. In particular, when a large number of products were purchased (when the receipt was long), the burden on the store clerk became even heavier.

The problem that this invention aims to solve is to provide a product sales data processing device and program that can quickly and reliably identify whether a product has been purchased as subject to a reduced tax rate on a sales receipt.

The product sales data processing device of the embodiment includes a product registration processing unit, a payment processing unit, and an information output unit. The product registration processing unit registers product information and purchase type of the product purchased by the customer. The payment processing unit makes payment based on the details registered by the product registration processing unit. The information output unit outputs information indicating the purchase type of the product, arranged in the same row as the information related to the product for which payment has been made.

First, a POS terminal 10 according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of a POS terminal.

The POS terminal 10 includes a keyboard 11, a store clerk display 12, a customer display 14, a card reader 15, a barcode reader 16, and a receipt printer 17. The POS terminal 10 is an example of a product sales data processing device in this disclosure.

The keyboard 11 has multiple keys such as numeric keys, a clear key, a return key, a subtotal key, and a closing key. The numeric keys are numeric keys for inputting numeric values such as product codes and amounts. The clear key is a key for canceling an operation when an error occurs. The return key is a key for canceling the current operation and returning to the previous screen. The subtotal key is a key for completing the product registration process for registering products and declaring the calculation of the total transaction amount. The closing key is a key that is pressed to confirm the input information and perform the payment process (accounting process).

The store clerk's display 12 has a display device, such as an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panel, and a touch panel 13 laminated on the surface of the display device. The store clerk's display 12 displays a screen to the store clerk according to the processing status of the registration process, payment process, etc. The touch panel 13 detects the store clerk's pressing of a screen or button displayed on the store clerk's display 12, and controls the operation of the POS terminal 10 according to the position that was pressed.

The customer-side display 14 is composed of a display device such as an LCD panel, and is positioned with its display surface facing the customer to display the price of the registered product, the discount amount, the total transaction amount, the total discount amount, etc.

The card reader 15 reads customer information, such as the membership number, registered on the store's membership card held by the customer. The card reader 15 may also have a function for writing information onto the membership card, and may write the member's latest number of points.

The POS terminal 10 also includes a barcode reader 16 that reads the code data contained in the barcode attached to the product. The barcode reader 16 decodes the light reception signal of the code data attached to the product, obtains the code data represented by the barcode (product code that identifies the product), and outputs it to the CPU 21 (see Figure 2) of the POS terminal 10.

The receipt printer 17 prints and issues a sales receipt with the transaction details printed on it.

(Description of the hardware configuration of the POS terminal)
Next, the hardware configuration of the POS terminal 10 will be described with reference to Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a hardware block diagram showing an example of the hardware configuration of a POS terminal. As shown in Fig. 2, the POS terminal 10 includes a control unit 20, a storage unit 24, and a controller 25.

The control unit 20 has the configuration of a typical computer, including a CPU (Central Processing Unit) 21, a ROM 22, and a RAM 23. The CPU 21 reads out various programs, data files, etc. stored in the ROM 22 and a storage unit 24 (described later), and loads them in the RAM 23. The CPU 21 operates according to the various programs, data files, etc. loaded in the RAM 23, and is responsible for the overall control of the POS terminal 10.

The control unit 20 is connected to the memory unit 24 and the controller 25 via the internal bus 27.

The memory unit 24 retains stored information even when the power is turned off. The memory unit 24 is, for example, a hard disk drive (HDD). Instead of a HDD, a non-volatile memory such as a flash memory may be provided. The memory unit 24 stores programs including the control program P. The control program P is a program for implementing the functions of the POS terminal 10.

The control program P may be provided in advance by being incorporated in the ROM 22. The control program P may also be provided by being recorded in a computer-readable recording medium such as a CD-ROM, a flexible disk (FD), a CD-R, or a digital versatile disk (DVD) in a format that can be installed or executed by the control unit 20. Furthermore, the control program P may be provided by being stored on a computer connected to a network such as the Internet and downloaded via the network. The control program P may also be provided or distributed via a network such as the Internet.

The storage unit 24 further stores a product master file M. The product master file M is a master file that stores product information such as product names and unit prices in association with product codes. The product master file M is updated successively through communication between the POS terminal 10 and a store server (not shown in FIG. 2).

The storage unit 24 also stores a sales file F that registers product information related to products purchased by customers. The sales file F also registers not only sales history but also return history.

The controller 25 connects the control unit 20 to the input/output devices, which are the keyboard 11, the store clerk display 12, the touch panel 13, the customer display 14, the card reader 15, the barcode reader 16, and the receipt printer 17. The functions of each input/output device are as described above.

The POS terminal 10 also communicates with a store server (not shown). It is equipped with a communication unit (not shown).

Next, the functional configuration of the POS terminal 10 will be described with reference to Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a functional block diagram showing an example of the functional configuration of a POS terminal.

The control unit 20 (see FIG. 2) of the POS terminal 10 deploys the control program P in the RAM 23 and runs it to realize the code symbol reading unit 30, purchase type designation unit 31, product registration processing unit 32, print data generation unit 33, receipt printing unit 34, payment processing unit 35, and refund processing unit 36 shown in FIG. 3 as functional units.

The code symbol reader 30 reads a code symbol that is attached to a product and contains information that identifies the product. The code symbol may be, for example, a barcode or a two-dimensional code.

The purchase type designation unit 31 acquires information indicating the purchase type of the product that is input by the store clerk via the keyboard 11 or touch panel 13. For example, when the purchased product is a food product, the purchase type is information indicating at least that the product was purchased in a form to which the reduced tax rate does not apply. More specifically, it is information indicating that the product was purchased at least in an eat-in form.

The product registration processing unit 32 registers the product information and purchase method of the product purchased by the customer.

After all product registration is completed, the print data generation unit 33 generates print data in which the purchase information (product name, unit price, purchase quantity, tax rate, etc.) of the products registered by the product registration processing unit 32 is arranged in a format to be printed on a receipt. At this time, the print data generation unit 33 arranges information indicating the purchase type of the product in the same row as the information related to the paid product, and generates the print data. The print data generation unit 33 is an example of an information output unit in this disclosure. Note that if the POS terminal 10 has an electronic receipt generation function, it may be equipped with an electronic receipt output data generation unit (not shown) together with the print data generation unit 33. The electronic receipt output data generation unit generates distribution data in which the purchase information of the products registered by the product registration processing unit 32 is arranged in a format to be distributed as an electronic receipt. At this time, the print data generation unit 33 arranges information indicating the purchase type of the product in the same row as the information related to the paid product.

The receipt printing unit 34 prints the print data generated by the print data generation unit 33 using the receipt printer 17 and issues a receipt.

The payment processing unit 35 performs payment processing to settle the purchase price based on the results registered by the product registration processing unit 32.

The refund processing unit 36 calculates the refund amount based on the price of the product returned by the customer, the number of items returned, and the purchase method.

(Explanation of receipt print example)
Next, an example of a printed receipt will be described with reference to Fig. 4. Fig. 4 is a diagram showing an example of a printed receipt. In particular, receipts 80 and 82 shown in Fig. 4 are both examples of printed receipts when one unit of product A is purchased.

On receipts 80 and 82, the product name, unit price, and purchase quantity of each paid item are printed on one line. An example of a receipt printed when multiple items of the same product are purchased will be described later (see Figure 8). In addition, on receipts 80 and 82, the subtotal, tax amount, total amount, deposit amount, and change amount are printed below the product name, unit price, and purchase quantity of each product.

Receipt 80 is an example of a receipt issued when product A is purchased as takeout. In receipt 80, in the line showing the unit price of product A, a symbol 81 indicating that it was purchased as takeout is printed immediately before the unit price of the product. This symbol 81 is a mark that must be affixed to items subject to reduced tax rates in line with the reduced tax rate system that will be implemented from October 2019.

Receipt 82 is an example of a receipt printed when product A is purchased in an eat-in format. In receipt 82, in the line showing the paid unit price of product A, a symbol 83 indicating that the product was purchased in an eat-in format is printed immediately after the product price, i.e., at the end of the line where the paid unit price and purchased quantity of the product are printed. Symbol 83 is an icon that represents the "I" of eat-in in white. In other words, symbol 83 allows the store clerk to recognize at a glance that the product was purchased in an eat-in format. This symbol 83 is printed to the right of the lowest digit of the product name, price, etc.

That is, the amounts printed on receipts 80 and 82 (unit price of product, subtotal, tax amount, total amount, deposit amount, and change amount) are printed right-justified, i.e., with the least significant digits aligned, to improve the readability of the numbers. The readability of the symbol 83 is improved by printing it to the right of the position where the least significant digit of the product name, amount, etc. is printed.

If the POS terminal 10 has an electronic receipt generation function, an electronic receipt in the same format as receipts 80 and 82 is generated.

(Explanation of refund process)
Next, the contents of the refund process will be described with reference to Fig. 5. Fig. 5 is a diagram showing an example of information displayed on the store clerk's display when registering information on a product returned by a customer.

When a customer returns a product, the store clerk first operates the keyboard 11 or touch panel 13 of the POS terminal 10 to register the returned product through the refund processing unit 36 (see FIG. 3) of the POS terminal 10, and then selects the sales form of the returned product. The display screen 40 in FIG. 5 is an example of a sales form registration screen for the returned product.

The refund processing unit 36 displays, on the display screen 40 of the store clerk display 12, product information 41 identifying the selected returned product, an eat-in button 42 for selecting that the product was sold as an eat-in item, and a take-out button 43 for selecting that the product was sold as a take-out item.

At this time, the refund processing unit 36 draws the eat-in button 42 larger than the take-out button 43. This is to prevent the store clerk from mistakenly selecting take-out when he or she should have selected eat-in. In other words, if a product sold as eat-in is returned and take-out is mistakenly selected, the customer will suffer a loss of 2% because only the 8% tax rate on the take-out product will be refunded compared to the 10% tax rate on eat-in products. Conversely, if a product sold as take-out is returned and eat-in is mistakenly selected, the store will suffer a loss of 2%, but the mistake will be borne by the store to avoid causing inconvenience to customers.

As mentioned above, the fact that the item was sold as an eat-in item is easily identifiable on the receipt, so in reality, the store clerk would not mistakenly select take-out. However, to minimize mistakes, the display format shown on display screen 40 is used. Note that the format of the eat-in button 42 and take-out button 43 displayed on display screen 40 is not limited to the example in FIG. 5, and it is sufficient that the eat-in button 42 is easier to press than the take-out button 43.

When the sales format of the returned item is selected on the display screen 40, the refund processing unit 36 displays a display screen 50 on the store clerk's display 12 for inputting the number of items to be returned.

The refund processing unit 36 displays the name of the product to be returned and its sales form on the display screen 50 of the store clerk's display 12, as well as a return item number display field 51 that displays the return item number and a numeric keypad 52 for inputting the return item number.

The numeric keypad 52 has number keys from 0 to 9, a confirmation key for confirming the entered return points, and a clear key for clearing the numbers if an input error occurs.

After asking the customer how many items will be returned, the store clerk operates the numeric keypad 52 to input the number of items to be returned. The input number of items to be returned is displayed in the return number display field 51. If there are no problems with the input number of items to be returned, the store clerk presses the confirm key to confirm the number of items to be returned.

Then, the refund processing unit 36 calculates the refund amount based on the input product name, number of returns, and purchase type, and issues the refund. The refund processing unit 36 also updates the sales file F (see Figure 2) by registering the return history.

In addition, since the sales number of the specified product is registered in the sales file, if the return number selected with the numeric keypad 52 exceeds the sales number, the refund processing unit 36 may determine that an ineligible number has been entered and display information in the return number display field 51 prompting confirmation.

The code symbol reading unit 30 reads the code symbol attached to the product (step S10).

The product registration processing unit 32 determines whether the product associated with the code symbol read in step S10 is a product subject to the reduced tax rate (step S11). If it is determined that the product is subject to the reduced tax rate (step S11: Yes), the process proceeds to step S12. On the other hand, if it is not determined that the product is subject to the reduced tax rate (step S11: No), the process proceeds to step S13.

If the answer is Yes in step S11, the purchase type designation unit 31 acquires the purchase type of the product (step S12).

If step S11 returns No, or following step S12, the product registration processing unit 32 registers the product to be purchased by the customer by comparing the product code registered in the code symbol read by the code symbol reading unit 30 with the product master file M (step S13).

The product registration processing unit 32 determines whether product registration has been completed (step S14). If it is determined that product registration has been completed (step S14: Yes), the process proceeds to step S15. On the other hand, if it is determined that product registration has not been completed (step S14: No), the process returns to step S10. Note that whether product registration has been completed can be determined by, for example, pressing the subtotal key on the keyboard 11.

If the answer is Yes in step S14, the payment processing unit 35 performs payment processing (step S15).

The receipt printing unit 34 prints and issues a receipt based on the print data generated by the print data generation unit 33 (step S17). The POS terminal 10 then ends the process shown in FIG. 6.

In this way, by changing the output format of the information indicating the purchase type depending on whether multiple copies of the same product are purchased or a single purchase, the store clerk can immediately be aware that if the product is returned, they need to check the number of items being returned.

Next, the receipt 93 shown in FIG. 8 is an example in which a symbol 94 indicating that the product was purchased as an eat-in item is printed at the beginning of the line that prints the product information of the product purchased as an eat-in item.

The unit price of the product, subtotal, tax amount, total amount, deposit amount, and change amount printed on the receipt are printed left-justified to improve readability, but the symbol 94 is printed to the left of the left edge position. This makes the symbol 94 stand out even more.
