Description

【0001】

[0001]
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a golf club head, and more particularly to a golf club head with an improved face structure.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In order to increase the flight distance of a golf club, a structure in which a plurality of plate members are laminated as a structure of the face portion has been proposed (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 9-239076). This is to reduce the spring constant of the face part, increase the restoring force of the face deflection when the face collides with the ball, increase the initial velocity of the hit ball, and increase the flight distance.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, even in such a club head having a face structure in which a plurality of plate members are laminated, the area of the face portion of the laminated structure is set relatively narrow in the face surface in order to improve the directionality of the hit ball, or In the case of clubs for less powerful players such as seniors and ladies, a problem is expected that the spring constant of the face portion does not decrease as expected.
[0004]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a golf club head having a laminated face portion that can further increase the amount of deformation of the face portion upon hitting.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
To achieve the above object, the present invention is a region including the sweet area of the face member constituting the head of a hollow structure is open, part of the laminated structure the opening area of at least two plate members are stacked In the golf club head formed by welding on the toe and heel side where metal plates are overlapped with each other, this laminated structure is also joined only to the toe and heel side with respect to the face member. The thickness of the plate material on the striking surface side of the plate material is made thinner than the thickness of the plate material on the back side.
[0006]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
[0007]
FIG. 1 is a partially broken plan view showing a preferred embodiment of the present invention, in which a region including a sweet area of a face member 2 constituting a head 1 has a laminated structure in which a plurality of plate members 2A and 2B are laminated. It is part 20. In this embodiment, two plate materials 2A and 2B are used, and the plate material 2A on the striking surface side is thinner than the plate material 2B on the back side. That is, the thickness t 2 of the thickness t 1 and the plate member 2B of the plate 2A, a relationship of t 1 <t 2. Even in a structure in which three or more plate materials are laminated, the thickness of each plate material is set to be thinner as the plate material is closer to the hitting surface. In the example shown in FIG. 1, t 1 = 1.2 mm and t 2 = 2.0 mm, and both plate materials 2A and 2B were made of 15-3-3β-type titanium. Reference numeral 3 denotes a hosel. A shaft (not shown) is attached to the hosel 3 to constitute a golf club.
[0008]
FIG. 2 is a front view of the golf club head shown in FIG. 1, and a portion of the laminated structure in which the plate materials 2A and 2B are laminated is indicated by reference numeral 20. The plate members 2A and 2B are welded and joined to the toe 4 and the heel 5 side, and are joined only to the toe 4 and the heel 5 side without welding the entire periphery of the part 20 to the face member 2 other than the part 20. The joint portion is denoted by reference numeral 6. By not joining the entire periphery of the portion 20 to the face member 2, the plate materials 2A and 2B are easily deformed during hitting.
[0009]
The joining means between the plate members 2A and 2B is not limited to welding, and screwing or other known means can be employed. The “sweet area” refers to a hit ball area where 95% of the maximum flight distance can be obtained. In the illustrated embodiment, the head of a wood club is shown, but it can also be applied to a head of an iron club. The face portion of a golf club is usually formed to be convex on the ball striking surface side in a wood club, and the face portion including a ball striking surface is formed in a flat plate shape in an iron club.
[0010]
In FIG. 2, the laminated structure portion 20 is substantially present in the sweet area, but it may exist over the range from the toe 4 to the heel 5 or the range from the sole to the crown so as to include this area. In addition, although β-type titanium is used as the plate materials 2A and 2B, a light metal having strength such as duralumin can be used.
[0011]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, the area including the sweet area of the face member constituting the head having the hollow structure is opened, and the opened area is a portion of the laminated structure in which at least two plates are laminated. The formed golf club head is welded and joined on the toe and heel sides where metal plates are overlapped, and this laminated structure is also joined to the face member only on the toe and heel sides to form a joint. In addition, since the thickness of the plate material on the striking surface side of the plate material is formed to be thinner than the thickness of the plate material on the back side, it is composed of bending deflection due to ball collision at the time of hitting and displacement displacement between the laminated plate materials. Deformation occurs in the part of the laminated structure, the amount of deformation of the face surface increases, the amount of accumulated energy of the deflection of the head increases, the initial velocity of the hit ball can be increased and the flight distance can be increased, and the impact At the same time, deformation of the face surface is likely to occur, and on the other hand, the deformation of the ball can be reduced, and the energy loss of the ball can be suppressed and the restitution coefficient can be increased. In addition, since the double structure portion of the face surface is limited to the vicinity of the sweet area, even when the core is removed and hit, the increase in unnecessary spin amount is suppressed and the directionality of the hit ball is improved. In addition, the thickness of the plate material that becomes the ball striking surface is made the thinnest, and the thickness of the plate material laminated on it is set to be sequentially thicker, so even if a weak player with slow head speed hits it, it is placed close to the ball striking surface Since the thin plate material is easily deformed, a larger deformation amount of the face surface can be obtained. In addition, in order to increase the directionality of the hit ball, when the area to be the portion of the laminated structure is set to be small and small in the face surface, the laminated plate material is hardly deformed when the ball is hit. There is a concern that it is difficult to obtain an effective restoring force, but in the laminated structure portion of the present invention, even if the area of this portion is reduced, the plate material close to the striking surface is thin, so that it can be easily deformed and effectively deformed. The quantity can be obtained.
