多くの基体、たとえば、ガラス基体、たとえば、建築用の窓、自動車用透明体、および航空機用の窓、については、良好な視界を得るためには、基体の表面には出来るだけ長い期間にわたって表面汚染物質たとえば普通の有機および無機の表面汚染物質が実質的につかないことが望ましい。慣例では、これはこれら表面が頻繁に清掃されることを意味する。この清掃作業は代表的には化学洗浄液の助けを借りて又は借りずに表面を手動で拭うことによって行われる。この手法は労力、時間およびコスト集約的である。従って、現在あるガラス基体よりも清掃容易性であって且つかかる清掃の必要性または頻度を減少させる表面を有する基体特にガラス基体が要求されている。
前駆体組成物をCVD被覆装置によって基体表面の少なくとも一部分の上に付着させることによる被膜形成方法を提供する。前駆体組成物は光活性被膜前駆体材料たとえば金属酸化物または半導体金属酸化物前駆体材料と、光吸収バンド変更用前駆体材料とを含んでいる。一つの態様においては、被膜は溶融金属浴の中のフロートガラスリボンの上に付着される。別の態様においては、フロートガラスリボンが溶融金属浴を出た後であるが、熱処理装置たとえば徐冷がまのような熱処理装置に入る前に、フロートガラスリボンの上に被膜が付着される。得られる被膜は基体の上の被膜の少なくとも親水性たとえば光活性親水性を生じるものであり、そして光触媒作用性の被膜であるのに十分な光触媒活性を生じることもあり得る。
図1はその上に付着された本発明の光活性被膜を有する基体の一部分の断面図(案分比例ではない)である;
ここで使用されるとき、「内」、「外」、「上」、「下」、「上面」、「底面」などのような空間または方向を示す用語は図面に示されている通り本発明に関係している。しかしながら、本発明は様々な代替の適応を想定することができ、従って、かかる用語は限定的に解釈されるべきでない、ということが理解されるはずである。さらには、明細書および特許請求の範囲の中に使用された、寸法、物理的特徴、プロセスパラメーター、成分の量、反応条件など、を表す全ての数字は全ての場合において用語「約」によって変更されるものであると理解されるべきである。従って、そうでないと表示されていないかぎりは、以下の明細および請求項に記述された数値は本発明によって得られると思われる所期の諸性質に依存して変動することができる概数である。少なくとも、そして特許請求の範囲に均等論を適用するのを制約するものとしてではなく、各数値は少なくとも報告された有効数字の数に照らして且つ通常の丸める技法の適用によって解釈されるべきである。さらに、ここに開示された全ての範囲はここに包含されたいずれかの及び全ての下位範囲を包囲すると理解されるはずである。たとえば、「1〜10」の規定範囲は最小値1と最大値10の間のいずれかの及び全ての下位範囲を包含すると解釈されるはずである;すなわち、最小値1またはそれより大きい値から始まってそして最大値10またはそれより小さい値で終る全ての下位範囲、たとえば、5.5〜10、を包含する。さらに、ここに使用されるとき、用語「の上に付着された」または「の上に付与された」は表面の上に付着または付与されているが必ずしもそれと表面接触している必要がないことを意味する。たとえば、基体「の上に付着された」被膜は付着被膜と基体の間に位置する同じまたは異なる組成の一つ以上の別の被膜の存在を排除しない。加えて、ここに開示された全てのパーセントはそうでないと表示されていないかぎり「重量」による。二乗平均荒さの値は全て、原子間力顕微鏡検査によって1平方マイクロメートルの表面積の上の二乗平均(RMS)荒さの測定によって測定可能なものである。また、本願明細書の中に「組み入れられる」全ての資料はそれらの全体が組み入れられると理解されるはずである。

Claims (14)
- 少なくとも一つの表面を有するガラス基体;および
基体表面の少なくとも一部分の上に付着された被膜
を含む物品であって、
被膜が、チタニアと、クロム(Cr)、バナジウム(V)、マンガン(Mn)、銅(Cu)、鉄(Fe)、マグネシウム(Mg)、スカンジウム(Sc)、イットリウム(Y)、ニオブ(Nb)、モリブデン(Mo)、ルテニウム(Ru)、タングステン(W)、銀(Ag)、鉛(Pb)、ニッケル(Ni)、レニウム(Re)、およびそれらの混合物から選ばれた少なくとも一つの追加の材料とを含み、そして
被膜が化学蒸着によって基体上に付着されており、
被膜が300Åまでの厚さを有し、そのRMS表面粗さは2nm未満であり、被膜が実質的に非孔質である、前記物品。 - 物品が断熱性ガラスユニットであり、そして基体が断熱性ガラスユニットのガラスの少なくとも一つである、請求項1の物品。
- 基体が徐冷ガラス、強化ガラス、および倍強化ガラスから選ばれる、請求項1の物品。
- 物品が建築用透明体である、請求項1の物品。
- 被膜が基体表面に直接付着されている、請求項1の物品。
- 被膜がチタニアを少なくとも部分的にアナターゼ相で含む、請求項1の物品。
- 被膜がチタニアを少なくとも部分的にルチル相で含む、請求項1の物品。
- 基体が、その中に拡散された錫を有する少なくとも一つの表面を包含する、請求項1の物品。
- 基体がフロートガラスリボンである、請求項1の物品。
- 基体表面と被膜の間に位置した少なくとも一つの中間層を包含する、請求項1の物品。
- 中間層が反射防止層である、請求項10の物品。
- 中間層がナトリウムイオン拡散障壁層である、請求項10の物品。
- 反射防止層が、酸化アルミニウム、酸化錫、酸化インジウム、酸化ケイ素、オキシ炭化ケイ素、オキシ窒化ケイ素、およびそれらの混合物の少なくとも一つを含む、請求項11の物品。
- 障壁層が、酸化錫、酸化ケイ素、酸化チタン、酸化ジルコニウム、フッ素ドープ酸化錫、酸化アルミニウム、酸化マグネシウム、酸化亜鉛、酸化コバルト、酸化クロム、酸化鉄、およびそれらの混合物の少なくとも一つを含む、請求項12の物品。
