− メッシュベースのデバイスと比較して、血栓形成のリスクが低い。本開示によるいくつかの実施形態は、ワイヤ交差がない細いモノフィラメント本体を有し、それによって、血流に対して抵抗をほとんどもたらさず、流動妨害および鬱滞をほとんどもたらさず、かつ血液凝固の段階反応の後続活性化をもたらす。
− 管状メッシュベースのデバイスと比較して、過剰内皮細胞成長による詰まりのリスクが低い。本開示のいくつかの実施形態は、脈管壁とはるかに小さい接触面積を有する。
− 本開示によるいくつかの実施形態は、特に、張力および/または圧縮力に強い、螺旋状設計を有するため、脈管直径内の変化に伴って、より良好に適合するように物理的嵌合する。
− カテーテル挿入によって送達される塞栓防護デバイスより低侵襲性であって、したがって、合併症のリスクが低い。例えば、いくつかの実施形態は、直径約2mmを有するカテーテルと比較して、直径約0.5mm未満を有する非常に細い針を通して送達されてもよい。その結果、本開示による実施形態の送達の間に作製される穿通孔は、はるかに大きくかつより外傷性のカテーテル穿通孔とは対照的に、自己封止および自己治癒する。
− 送達は、コストがより低く、より単純である。例えば、いくつかの実施形態による塞栓防護デバイスは、超音波誘導下、ベッドサイドで埋め込まれ、カテーテル検査室、蛍光透視法、または、高度な技能者を要求しない。
