The connection is usually performed by the method described in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 3-258520.

First, the weather strip 1 is a mounting base portion 2 which is mounted on the door opening edge of the vehicle body, the opening edge of the luggage compartment, etc., and the mounting base portion 2. A hollow seal portion 3 is provided which is provided at the end portion and has an outer periphery abutting against a door peripheral portion and a drunk lid peripheral portion which are not shown. Then, both end portions 4 and 5 of the straight portion and the corner portion are connected by molding using a mold, and both end portions 6a and 6b of the core member 6 are respectively connected to the hollow seal portions 3a and 3b of both end portions 4 and 5, respectively. In the inserted state, both the end portions 4 and 5 are set in a cavity of a mold, and a rubber material is injected into the cavity for connection.

The desorption work is extremely complicated. Further, in order to take out the core member 6 from the inside of the hollow seal portion 31, not only a part of the outer side portion of the hollow seal portion 3 must be cut out to form a core removing hole, When pulling out the core member 6 from the use hole, there is a fear that the edge of the hole is torn. As a result, the molding work efficiency is lowered and the cost of the molding work is inevitably increased.

A method of connecting both end portions of a weather strip consisting of a seal portion, wherein the opposite edges of the hollow seal portions of the opposite end portions are crushed in a mold, and the both end portions are inside the mold. It is characterized in that it is connected through a connecting portion formed of a rubber material injected into the container, and the sealing portion of the connecting portion is formed in substantially the same shape as the seal lip of the hollow sealing portion.

Because it is formed in almost the same shape as the lip,
The hollow seal part and the sealing part ensure a sufficient sealing function, and since the conventional core member is completely unnecessary, the molding work efficiency and die manufacturing work efficiency are improved and the cost is low. Can be realized.

Explaining this connection method in detail, the cavity of the mold has a hollow seal portion, whereas the portion corresponding to the welt portion 12 is formed in the shape of the welt portion 12, that is, a substantially U-shape. A portion corresponding to 13 is formed in a rectangular thin plate shape, and one inner peripheral surface is formed to be substantially the same as the outer shape of the seal lip 15. Then, the molding procedure is as follows.
8 and 19 are butted in the cavity of the mold, and the opposite edges 13 of the hollow seal portions 13 of the both end portions 18 and 19 are joined together.
Crush a and 13a with a die. After that, a rubber material is injected into the cavity from a predetermined injection port to mold the connecting portion 20 by molding.

Support lip 1 when crushing a and 13b with a mold
The crushing position of 6 is defined. That is, when the vicinity of the substantially bent center portion a of the support lip 16 is pressed toward the seal lip 15 side in the direction of the arrow, the upper end side of the support lip 16 is pulled toward the welt portion 12, and the seal lip 15 is As shown by the dashed-dotted line 14 in FIG. Since the connection is made via the connecting portion, the conventional core member is completely unnecessary, and the complicated molding work by the core member is avoided. Therefore, the molding work of such connection and the manufacturing work efficiency of the mold are greatly improved, and the cost can be reduced.
