Abstract

PURPOSE:To omit a special driving device so as to widely use the space in the interior of a dish washer by connecting a shape memory alloy to the lid member which causes a lid member of a detergent storing box to open when it reaches the suitable temperature for washing. CONSTITUTION:A detergent storing box 7 comprises a rectangular parallelo- piped detergent container 8 fixed to a door lid 4, a lid member 10 which is in close contact with an opening of the container and capable of freely turning around a shaft 9, and a locking device 11 for locking such opening. A helical spring 12 is mounted around the shaft 9, whereby the lid member 10 is always energized in the opening direction. The locking device 11 comprises a projection 14 projected from the free end of the lid member 10 and a hook 15, wherein the hook 15 is capable of freely turning around a supporting shaft 16 and a spring 17 made of a shape memory alloy is stretched between a lever portion 15a integral with the hook 15 and the door lid 14. The shape memory alloy spring 17 is set to such a length that the hook 15 can be held at a solid line position when the ordinary temperature is less than 35 deg.C, when it reaches the transformation start temperature about 50 deg.C, it contracts to bring the hook 15 to the chain line position.
