Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent screaming of a drum brake by providing a brake-shoe-pressed- on contact member on an anchor and a vibration-proof steel plate piled inwards the member.
CONSTITUTION: A wear proof contact member 11 is provided on the base of an expanding slot 6b of an anochor 6a to make contact with the end 3a of a brake shoe 3. A vibration proof steel plate 12 high in internal friction is fit inwards on the contact member. Vibration energy given when the brake shoe 3 is pressed on the brake drum 1 is damped by the vibration proof steel plate 12 so that spring constant of the anchor 6a may vary. Resonance caused with other parts and screaming can be prevented.
