Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain Cr alloy plating bath capable of forming Cr plated layer excelling in luster and throwing power, by containing metal ions such as Fe and Co, and amino acid, carboxylic acid, etc. into aqueous solution containing trivalent Cr.
CONSTITUTION: In an aqueous solution containing chromium chloride, chromium sulfate, as trivalent Cr ion source, etc. in the range of 0.1mol to saturated concentration, metal ions such as Fe and Co are added in the form of chloride and sulfate in order to form a Cr alloy plated surface having luster being eutectoid-reacted together with Cr. In the case of Fe, 0.001 to 1mol concentration is added; in the case of Co, 1.5mol concentration is added. Besides, amino acid such as aminoacetic acid and glutamic acid, carboxylic acid, oxycarboxylic acid, and salts thereof are added by 0.5 to 5 times mol concentration as of carboxylic group concentration with respect to trivalent Cr content. In order to increase the luster on the plated surface, water-soluble Al salt, and ammonium ion such as ammonium sulfate as pH adjusting agent are added by more than 0.2mole concentration.
