Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily mold expanded graphite by dipping it in a liquid to substitite the liquid for air in the graphite.
CONSTITUTION: Expanded graphite having an apparent specific gravity of 0.005 is dipped in a liquid such as water, e.g. for 24hr, charged into a ram type extrusion molding machine, and continuously compressed to obtain lusterless graphite material having a water content of 46% and an apparent specific gravity of 0.7 as dry basis. This graphite material as crushed and molded into a graphite pipe having an apparent specific gravity of about 0.9W1.2 and high flexibility with a ram type extrusion molding machine.
