Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a non-magnetic steel with a low thermal expansion coefficient by incorporating into steel a specific proportion of C and M.
CONSTITUTION: A steel contains C<0.5%, Si<2%, Mn; 20W30%, Ni; 0.005W 0.04%, or further Cr<2%. At this time, as austenite stabilizing elements, the quantities of Mn and C are controlled to Mn%>16×C%+18, and Mn%>-12× C%+21.5. Both C and Mn are elements capable of stabilizing austenite and having thermal expansion coefficient equal to or smaller than the level of ferrite steel. As a result, the specified steel provides a material suited to guide-way structure for linear motor car or road surface reinforcing material.
