Abstract
PURPOSE: To make productivity and economy higher through reinforcement of toughness by interposing reinforcing layers of high tensile strength and low coefficient of thermal expansion such as of glass fibers between shell layers.
CONSTITUTION: In a ceramic shell mold reiteratively applied with shell layers by refractory material coating and sanding, fiber materials of high tensile strength and low coefficient of thermal expansion, for example, glass fibers 4 cut to about 5W7 mm are blown to the top surface of the coating layer 3 on the final refractory materil sanding layer 2 of the lst shell layer I, whereby a layer IIb is made. Futher, a shell layer IIa comprising a refractory material slurry coating layer 1 and a sanding layer 2 is applieid on this tufted layer IIb, whereby a reinforcing layer II is formed. Arrangement is so made that such reinforcing layers exist in one or more layers in the entire layer of the shell mold.
