Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the degree of fatigue which the operator feels, avoid a failure of inspection and attain products with high quality by a device with which visual inspection operation and sorting operation for socks are automated. CONSTITUTION:A socks fitting process A, socks inspection device B, defective socks removing device C and a good socks removing device D are disposed along a rectangular endless rial 11 in sequence to make a round. On the rail 11 are arranged carriages 13 with equal intervals therebetween each of which supports a foot pattern 12 in the horizontal direction and is provided with a carriage feeding device F movable by virtue of a drive unit E. In the inspection device B, two automatic flaw detectors G each comprising a light receiving portion 17, light emitting portion 18 and a control unit 19 are disposed at positions between the process A and the device C above and below the foot pattern 12 within its width in parallel. A reflected light 20 incident upon the socks from a light source within the light emitting portion 18 causes an image of the socks, i.e., a matter 15 to be inspected, fitted over the foot pattern to focus on a photo sensor 14 through a lens 16, so that a binary signal 23 is obtained.
