Abstract
PURPOSE: A nylon 66 fiber with a double-layered structure in which the difference in refractive indices between at the fiber center and at the peripheral part is larger than a specific value, thus showing improved level dyeing.
CONSTITUTION: The objective nylon 66 fiber has more than 3×10-3 of difference in refractive indices between at the fiber center (average refractive index) and at 0.8R from the center (R is fiber radius) (peripheral refractive index). The average refractive index is preferably 1.57 or more. The fiber is obtained by taking up extruded nylon at a high speed of more than 8,000m/min where its polymer viscosity, spinning temperature, atmospheric conditions under the spinneret, cooling conditions and other conditions are selected appropriately to enable good spinning operations and give fiber of desired characteristics.
