Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a road-gripping power of a motorcycle tire without reducing the rigidity of tread blocks as well as without increasing the weight of the tire by forming, in the surface of each of the tread blocks, a sub groove which is shallower than main grooves. CONSTITUTION:A motorcycle tire is provided with sub grooves which are shallower than main grooves of a tire tread and extend from one side to a side of a reflection side in a tread surface 1 of tread blocks A1, A2, A3. The sub groove 2 may be either a U- or V-groove and the tread surface 1 may be of a square, trapezoidal, parallelogrammic, or any other desired form. Providing the sub grooves 2 increases the length of edges of a block surface which will come in contact with a road and further increases a road-gripping power without decreasing the rigidity of the tread blocks.
