Abstract

PURPOSE:To start a terminal device automatically by a host data processor connected to the terminal device through a digital data exchange by connecting a communication controlling device with a packet level function to the terminal device. CONSTITUTION:A host data processor which is not shown in the drawing but is connected to a digital data exchange (DDX) 2 sends a calling request packet to DDX 2 when a request for communication with the shown terminal device 3 is generated. When the DDX 2 sends a calling packet to the terminal device 3, a communication controlling device 12 which is always ready to operate receives the calling packet, turning on a main electric power 13, starting a central processor 11 and a program file 15 to start IPL operation and sending a normal reception report packet for the calling packet to the DDX 2 and a packet transmission stopping packet to the host data processor. After completing the IPL operation, the terminal device 3 can communicate with the host data processor.
