Abstract

PURPOSE:An interlay film for sandwich glass capable of providing sandwich glass having improved autohesion properties and impact resistance, obtained by adding a plasticizer to a polyainylbutyral having a stated degree of bytyralization and a specified half width of hydroxyl group absorption of infrared spectrum. CONSTITUTION:When a polyvinylbutyral has a degree of bytyralization of 60- 75mol% and a half width Y(cm<-1>) of hydroxyl group of infrared absorption spectrum shown by the Fig. and the degree of butyralization of Xmol%, a plasticizer is added to a polyvinyl butyral satisfying the formula, to give the desired interlay film for sandwich glass. This polyvinylbutyral, for example, is obtained by precipitation method wherein butyraldehyde is added to an aqueous solution of PVA in the presence of an acid catalyst at relatively low temperature to give a precipitate, which is aged in the presence of especially a perchloric acid compound. The degree of T-peel between films of the interlay film at 20 deg.C is <=0.5kg/cm<2>. For example, methyl cellosolve is used as the plasticizer.
