Abstract

PURPOSE:To constitute a monolithic IC by a method wherein an approximately saw tooth shaped signal produced by an N base notation counter and a D/A converter is compared with a detected signal for the purpose of obtaining a PWM signal. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor switching device 12 controls the power that is supplied by a DC source 11 to a load 2 and a digital detector 18 senses the load condition, producing a digital signal corresponding to the load condition. On the other hand, an N base notation counter 14, upon counting each Nth signal from the frequency signal generator 15, generates a digital signal that cyclically changes the inside condition. The digital comparator 13 compares the two digital signals and yields a PWM signal whose level changes in response to the relationship between the two in terms of size, whereby the semiconductor switching device 12 is turned off and on. Thus a DC-DC converter can be manufactured without a capacitor and be constituted in the form of a monolithic IC.
