Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generations of excessively large rush currents, by selecting one soft start mode out of a plural soft start modes composed of preset feed increasing gradients and rise times in accordance with operating condition of each exposure lamp and fixing heater of the copying machine, and by gradually increasing the feeding amount to the lamp and heater. CONSTITUTION:The operating condition of a copying machine is checked in steps 4-7 of the operational flow chart, and then, either soft mode I or II of a fixing heater is selected in accordance with the checking result. Moreover, either soft mode I or II of an exposure lamp is selected between steps 14 and 17 after the copying is started. Moreover, either heater soft mode III or IV is selected by checking the temperature of a heater lamp separately.
