Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which gives foams having excellent heat resistance and useful for vrious heat insulators, lagging materials, etc. containing a styrene resin having specified groups, a blowing agent and, if necessary, an organosilane compd. having at least two hydrolyzable groups.
CONSTITUTION: A compsn. contains a styrene resin contg. 0.03W5wt% group having formula I (wherein R is an inactive monovalent group such as methyl, propyl, phenyl or benzyl; Y is a hydrolyzable group such as methoxy, ethoxy, acetoxy or a group of formula II or III; n 1W3) in the molecule, and a blowing agent such as propane or methyl chloride and, if necessary, not more than 20wt% (based on the amount of the styrene resin) organosilane of formula IV (wherein Y, n are as defined above, R' is the same as R) having at least two hydrolyzable groups which are converted into hydroxyl groups. The compd. of formula IV has an effect of supplementally improving heat resistance.
