Abstract

PURPOSE:To recover an ink mist to a shield electrode with an electric field formed on the surface of a recording paper by an ink drop and the shield electrode, as generated when the ink drop impinges on the paper in a charge deflection type ink jet recorder. CONSTITUTION:A shield electrode 20 has a slit 21 to allow the passage of a printing ink drop and a platen 5 is insulated. Ink drops 121-125attached to a recording paper 4 elevates the surface potential of the recording paper and an electric field E is developed near the ink drops as illustrated. An ink mist 15 moves in the direction of the arrow because of the polarity the same as that of the ink drop and is collected to the shield electrode. It is desired that a groove is formed on the surface of the shield electrode at a specified pitch to quiken the dropping speed of the ink. This enables effective recovery of the ink mist with a simple construction without providing a voltage applying means or the like.
