Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a valve to be continuously operated without damage over a long period of time, by a method wherein in transferring liquefied coal oil from a high-pressure treating tank to a low-pressure treating tank, flow rate is controlled by a valve rotatably driven by difference in pressure between both reactors.
CONSTITUTION: A raw coal powder material, a solvent and a catalyst are supplied to a slurry tank 1 to produce a slurry, which is then introduced into a primary hydrogenation-liquefaction reactor 4 where a liquefaction reaction is carried out. After hydrogen is separated in a gas-liquid separating tank 5, the remaining liquid fraction is supplied to a solid-liquid separating tank 6. At this time, the pressure within the tank 6 is controlled by a pressure-controlling valve 13, and at the same time a valve 10 is provided between the tank 5 and the tank 6 to control the flow rate of a produced liquid flowing from the tank 5 into the tank 6, whereby the use of a reducing valve, which is easily damaged, can be eliminated. Said valve 10 has a rotor composed of a plurality of impellers 16 and a spring 17 and is rotatably driven by difference in pressure between both reactors.
