Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of heat collection in a heat pipe for solar energy collectors by forming grooves of a spiral or oblong locus which meets given requirements in the inner surface of the heat pipe.
CONSTITUTION: Spiral grooves 5 of a width b and a depth h are provided in the inner surface of a heat pipe with an inside radius R at an angle of θ of the axle of the heat pipe in such a way as to meet given requirements under the conditions of heat pipe setting angle α, working liquid density ρl, working liquid surface tension δl, and gravity acceleration g. Thus, the supply of working liquid onto the upside of the heating portion of the heat pipe is accelerated and therefore, the efficiency of heat collection is raised. For the equation, b is the width of groove, h is the depth of groove, θ is the angle of the groove to the axle of the pipe, R is the inside diameter of the pipe, α is the setting angle of the heat pipe, ρl is the density of working liguid, σl is surface tension of working liquid, and g is gravity acceleration.
