Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a highly flame-retardant composition free from generation of toxic gas during combustion, without lowering the electrical and mechanical properties of the original resin, by compounding a polyolefin resin with a hydrate of inorganic metallic compound and a flame-retardant based on red phosphorus.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of a polyolefin resin is mixed with 30W300pts.wt. of a hydrated inorganic metallic compound (e.g. aluminum hydroxide) and 2W 200pts.wt. of a flame-retardant based on red phosphorus (especially red phosphorous coated with phenolic resin, etc.). The composition has low rate of combustion and reduces the danger of fire spreading to the other facilities.
