Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce leakage current and to shorten aging time, by performing aging of a solid electrolytic capacitor element under specific temperature after forming a semiconductor layer thereof. CONSTITUTION:Employing a metal having a valve action, such as aluminum, tantalum, niobium, titanium or the alloy thereof, etc., as a base body of a valve metal used for an anode, a layer of an anode oxide film is formed over the surface of the anodic base body by anodic oxidation. Next, a semiconductor layer whose base material consists of lead dioxide or both of lead dioxide and lead sulfate is formed over the layer of the anode oxide film. Then, a conductive layer is formed over the semiconductor layer by depositing a metal layer or a carbon layer, or by depositing the metal layer next to the carbon layer. For a solid electrolytic capacitor element made in such manner, aging is then performed after or before sealing under temperature of 100-200 deg.C for the predetermined time with the predetermined voltage being applied. As a result, leakage current thereof can be largely decreased.
