Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the increase in nonlinear distortion even when an input signal level gets higher by connecting a stage having a variable attenuator in cascade to an amplifier and connecting an attenuator of the input stage and between stages in response to the level of the input signal. CONSTITUTION:A signal given from a terminal A is outputted from a terminal B via variable attenuators 1, 3, 5 connected in cascade and amplifiers 2, 4, 6. The output level is detected by a detector 7 and an error voltage with a reference voltage set by an output level adjusting device 9 is amplified by an amplifier 8 and a drive circuit 10 controls the attenuators 3, 5 to keep the output level constant. This is the case with an input signal level lower than the level set by an AGC switching point adjusting device 12 and when the level is higher, a drive circuit 11 is activated to use the attenuator 1 to suppress the input level of the amplifier 2 to a permissible maximum level or below thereby improving the nonlinear distortion characteristic.
