CONSTITUTION:When the optical disk controller ODC 1 writes the defective sector flag 102 to the sector designated by a host device 3, a seek instruction is transmitted to an optical disk device ODU 2 through an ODC control part 17. At the time of receiving the reading instruction of the data part 104 in which this flag 102 is written, a microprocessor control part 18 compares the data fed through a control part 17 with a predetermined reference to decide the flag or not. When it is decided that this data is the flag 102, the reading of a next flag address part 103 is stopped, it is searched until it coincides with a sector address part 101 and when it cannot be decided that it is the flag 102, a gap counter 16 is set to wait for the detection of the address 103.
