Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the gel strength in a period of water absorption remarkably large and to increase remarkably the dispersibility and the migration characteristics of water without forming a cutoff layer by mixing a water absorbent resin and apatite to form a water absorbent. CONSTITUTION:A water absorbent is formed by mixing 100pts.wt. water absorbent resin and about 0.01-100pts.wt. apatite. The hydrolyzed material of a starch-acrylonitrile graft copolymer and a vinyl acetate-acrylic acid ester copolymer, etc., are used as the water absorbent resin. Apatite is the crystalline mineral shown by a formula I (M shows a metal atom such as Ca, Ba, Sr, Mg, Na, K and Pb, Z shows an acid group such as PO4, SO4, etc., X shows hydroxyl group and halogen such as F and Cl) and about <=500mu grain size is suitable.

(Prior Art) Attempts have been made to use water-absorbing resins as constituent materials in sanitary cotton, disposable diapers, and other sanitary materials that absorb body fluids. Examples of such water-absorbing resins include hydrolysates of starch-acrylonitrile graft polymers (% Koko No. 49-43395), neutralized products of starch-acrylic acid graft polymers (% 1977-1254),

However, when these conventional water-absorbing resins are used in sanitary materials, although they absorb urine and blood, the unpleasant odors caused by these materials cannot eliminate the discomfort during use. In order to remove this bad odor, some deodorizers are also used, but
They still have drawbacks such as insufficient deodorizing ability, complicated manufacturing processes for disposable diapers and sanitary napkins, and high costs.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) In this way, there is no known product that has both excellent water absorption and strong deodorizing ability at the same time, and requires both water absorption and deodorizing functions. It is hoped that an excellent water-absorbing agent with strong deodorizing ability will be developed for sanitary materials and other industrial applications.

(Effects of the Invention) The water-absorbing agent of the present invention thus obtained has far superior performance compared to conventionally known water-absorbing agents. That is, the water-absorbing agent of the present invention absorbs and swells body fluids such as urine, menstrual blood, and sweat, as well as liquids generated from garbage, etc., and deodorizes bad odors generated from these excretions and liquids. , this deodorizing effect lasts for a long time.

It is known that conventional water-absorbing resins alone absorb some ammonia, but the water-absorbing agent of the present invention, which is composed of water-absorbing resin and apatite, is far more effective than conventional water-absorbing resins. It has a strong deodorizing effect and maintains excellent water absorption ability.

More surprisingly, when the water-absorbing agent of the present invention, which is composed of a water-absorbing resin and apatite, absorbs water and swells to form a gel, its gel strength is significantly greater than that of the water-absorbing resin alone. Unlike conventional water-absorbing resins, it does not form a water-blocking layer and has significantly improved water dispersibility and migration properties.

In addition, the gel of a water-absorbing resin that has absorbed a large amount of water becomes fluid over a long period of time, and a phenomenon called gel flow is observed, but the water-absorbing agent of the present invention also introduces a phenomenon called gel flow. It disappears.
