Claims (11)
- 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치로서,외부 케이싱(1)과, 상기 케이싱(1)에 의해 둘러싸인 관형(管形) 본체(4)와, 배기 가스를 컨버터 장치를 통과하도록 유도하는 통로를 포함하고,상기 통로는, 관형 본체(4) 주위의 외부에 위치한 제1 부분(17a)과, 관형 본체(4) 내부에 위치한 제2 부분(17b)과, 상기 제1 부분(17a)과 상기 제2 부분(17b) 사이에서 반경 방향으로 배기 가스의 유동을 제공하는 제3 부분(17c)을 포함하고,상기 제3 부분은, 통로의 외부에 위치된 제1 부분(17a)과 내부에 위치된 제2 부분(17b) 사이에서, 실질적으로 일직선인 반경 방향 유동보다 더 긴 유동 경로를 배기 가스에 제공하는 적어도 하나의 유로(流路)(13a, 13b)를 포함하는, 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치에 있어서,상기 유로(13a, 13b)는,180° 내지 1080°의 나선형 연장 범위(spiral extent)를 가지며,유로(13a, 13b)의 벽면을 형성하고 나선형 연장 범위를 가지는 적어도 하나의 윤곽 형성부(profiled section)(12a, 12b)를 포함하는 것을특징으로 하는 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 유로(13a, 13b)는 통로의 제1 공간과 제2 공간을 연결하도록 위치 설정되는 것을 특징으로 하는 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치.

- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 상기 통로의 제3 부분(17a)은 서로 360°/n 만큼 떨어져 있는 n 개의 윤곽 형성부(12a, 12b)에 의해 형성된 n 개의 유로(13a, 13b)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치.
- 제7항에 있어서, n은 2 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서,배기 가스를 통로의 제1 부분(17a)으로 유도하는 배기 가스용 입구부(2)와, 배기 가스를 통로의 제2 부분(17b)으로부터 배출되게 유도하는 배기 가스용 출구부(3)를 또한 포함하며,상기 배기 가스는 통로의 제2 부분(17b)을 통과하여 유동하기 전에 통로의 제1 부분(17a)을 먼저 통과하여 유동하는 방향으로 상기 통로를 통하여 유도되는 것을 특징으로 하는 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 상기 유로(13a, 13b)는 분리 가능한 독립적인 모듈(M) 내에 포함되는 것을 특징으로 하는 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치.
- 제10항에 있어서, 상기 분리 가능한 모듈(M)은 케이싱(1)의 적어도 일 단부벽(6)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 연소 기관의 배기 시스템 내에 설치되는 컨버터 장치.
