Abstract

PURPOSE: A method is provided to secure preciseness and stability when extracting lighting colors regardless of an intricacy of an image and the number of highlight regions by calculating crossing points of RGB lines in adjacent regions. CONSTITUTION: Three primary colors(RGB) are extracted from a photographed image(100).Image regions are separated based on a color(110). Color values which are two-dimensional projection values of respective representative RGB and average RGB for every region are calculated(120). Regions having the same color values are combined(130). Representative RGB are listed for respective image regions(140). Index values of the listed regions and adjacent regions are stored(150). Characteristic vectors are calculated for the listed and adjacent regions(150 to 220). A shortest distance and a crossing point are obtained between two characteristic vectors(230) to extract lighting colors(240-270).
