Description
Claims (15)
- 주사선과 신호선 사이에 매트릭스 배열로 화소를 형성한 광학변조소자의 구동방법에 있어서, 주사선을 선택하는 선택주기를 4개이상의 분할주기로 분할하는 단계와, 선택주기의 최종분할주기에 선행하는 제2분할주기와 제3분할주기동안에, 화소가 화소의 쌍안정상태중에서 제1안정상태가 되고, 표시될 데이터에 따라서 최종분할주기동안에 화소의 쌍안정상태중에서 제2안정상태로 변경되거나 제1안정상태를 그대로 유지하는 방식으로 선택되는 주사선에 접속된 각 화소에 전압을 인가하는 단계와, 선택주기 때문에 설정된 안정상태를 유지시키는 전압을, 주사선을 선택하지 않는 비선택주기동안, 각 화소에 인가하는 단계로 이루어진 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 분할주기는 각각 수평주사주기의 1/2배이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 화소는 각각 분할주기마다 DC전압이 인가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 화소에 인가된 전압이, 각 선택주기의 최종분할주기에 선행하는 제2분할주기와 제3분할주기동안에는, 동일한 극성을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 광학변조소자가 강유전성액정(ferroelectric liquid crystal)인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 두개이상의 연속하는 주사선을 동시에 선택하고 또한 순차적으로 주사선을 선택하도록 주사하고, 주사선과 신호선 사이에 매트릭스 형상으로 화소를 형성한 광학변조소자의 구동방법에 있어서, 주사선을 선택하는 선택주기를 4개이상의 분할주기로 분할하는 단계와, 선택주기의 최종분할주기에 선행하는 제2분할주기와 제3분할주기동안에, 화소가 화소의 쌍안정상태중에서 제1안정상태가 되고, 표시될 데이터에 따라서 최종 분할주기동안에 화소의 쌍안정상태중에서 제2안정상태로 변형되거나 제1안정상태를 그대로 유지하는 방식으로 선택되는 주사선에 접속된 각 화소에 전압을 인가하는 단계와, 선택주기때에 설정된 안정상태를 유지시키는 전압을, 주사선을 선택하지 않은 비선택주기동안, 각 화소에 인가하는 단계에 의하여, 각 화소를 구동시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 분할주기는 각각 수평주사주기의 1/2배 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 화소는 각각 분할주기마다 DC전압이 인가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 화소에 인가된 전압이, 각 선택주기의 최종분할주기에 선행하는 제2분할주기와 제3분할주기동안에는, 동일한 극성을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 광학변조소자가 강유전성액정(ferroelectric liquid crystal)인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제6항에 있어서, 표시될 데이터가, 신호선에 인가되는 전압으로 변환되기전에, 수평주사주기를 하나씩 걸러서 반전되는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제1주사선 내지 제 k주사선과, 제2주사선 내지 제(k+1)주사선과, 제3주사선 내지 제(k+2)주사선과, …, 제n주사선 내지 제(n+k)주사선의 순서로 동시에 (k+1)개의 주사선을 선택하고(단, k는 k<<N인 임의의 정수) 또한 순차적으로 주사선을 선택하도록 주사하고, 주사선의 전체개수가 N개이고, 주사선과 신호선 사이에 매트릭스 형상으로 화소를 형성한 광학변조소자의 구동방법에 있어서, 주사선을 선택하는 선택주기(Ts)를, H2γ(단, H는 수평주사주기)의 조건을 만족하는 2(k+1)개 이상의 분할주기(γ)로 분할하는 단계와, 선택주기의 최종분할주기에 선행하는 제2분할주기와 제3분할주기동안에, 화소가 화소의 쌍안정상태중에서 제1안정상태가 되고, 표시될 데이터에 따라서 최종분할주기동안에 화소의 쌍안정상태중에서 제2안정상태로 변경되거나 제1안정상태를 그대로 유지하는 방식으로 선택되는 주사선에 접속된 각 화소에 전압을 인가하는 단계와, 선택주기때에 설정된 안정상태를 유지시키는 교번전압을, 주사선을 선택하지 않는 비선택주기동안, 각 화소에 인가하는 단계에 의하여, 각 원소를 구동시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제12항에 있어서, 상기 화소는 각각 분할주기마다 DC전압이 인가되는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제12항에 있어서, 상기 화소에 인가된 전압이, 각 선택주기의 최종분할주기에 선행하는 제2분할주기와 제3분할주기동안에은 동일한 극성을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
- 제12항에 있어서, 상기 광학변조소자가 강유전성액정인 것을 특징으로 하는 광학변조소자의 구동방법.
